Chiari.co.uk -hopefully back soon
Timing is everything, or so they say. Well, I'd say that lousy timing is really infuriating. The forum at chiari.co.uk (after a lot of teething problems) has been hacked. It seems that the extra publicity from the Daily Mail stories has got the profile just a little too far into plain sight.
The number of page hits per day jumped by over 5000% when the story broke in the Mail - many hundreds of google searches were coming into the site. Obviously, a site generating over 10,000 hits a day is a good candidate for some online hacking. The first I knew was on Thursday when the site became inaccessible, by Friday large parts of the site were being defaced - it seems by automatically generated scripts. When the forum database fell over it failed rather spectacularly, although all the data is still present, all the posts, all the pictures etc is still available and safe.
Unfortunately I'm busy at work, so I'm struggling to get the database cleaned up and the forum back up and running. And that brings me back to my first sentence - timing. We've got one of our members, Marina, having surgery and no way to pass on our best wishes and news - for that I'm truly sorry.
If we could all send some positive thoughts to her, and those that are in contact with her family, please pass on my very best wishes.
James.

It is really unfortunate and really sad. As you find the different way and clean up the forum completely the hackers will find the another way to hack the forum. It need to do some strong planning to stop hacking.. I love this forum very much and hope you will be come back in a fresh mood.Shaker Kitchen Cabinets
Well, we are nearly back - it's not quite ready yet but hopefully within the next 24 hours or so.
Sorry for the dreadful break in service, I may have to investigate a different host, although their package is good, the technical service and security has been rather lacking.
James
Looks like we're back. That was NOT fun, anyway - get back and get posting. Don't forget though we could not have done this without Chris and his great blog keeping us informed about Marina.
Hi James
what kind of host would you need?
I have a webeden.co.uk account for my business website.
I can have another 4 sites each with 250mb for space.
If you did want to change hosts, you cld share my webeden. If it's possible to do that.
Heather
Stay strong Marina,
loads of love your in our thoughts.
Best wishes too for Harry who is having his surgery in Bristol this week. Big hugs and support to his family.

Thank you both, I'm home now. More news at the end of this thread xxxxx
Sending healing thoughts to Johanna and Harry.
Much love, Marina
I thought i would do an update on here seeing as stupid people broke the forum!! Grrrr!
Well Marina came out of hospital on friday only to be taken back in as she has a leak and is suffering terrible because of it. They have stitched her to try control the leak but they also gave her a Lumbar puncture which showed blood in her CSF... And if that wasnt enough she also has infection! She is so strong though and still managed to have a little giggle on the phone so hopefully this will be it and from now she will start recovering!! I will update more as i hear from marina.
Also i feel i have to mention it as i think its important for the support, Johanna who came onto the site a couple of months ago? Unfortunately has also been taken into hospital and she is very poorly. She has had over 40 fits now and is waiting for a transfer to another hospital that can give her her surgery. Im sure you will all agree that we are sending her loads of love and hope that she recovers quickly through this.
Laura xx
I'm sending out positive thoughts for both of you.
Marina has been through so much i wish her a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the update Laura.

Thanks Laura, Kel and Victoria, story at the bottom of this thread.
Love you loads xxxxxx
Am always happy to give spoons when they are needed! lol We love you back! Laura xxxx
Oh blimey, I wondered why I couldn't get on there! Some people are just pigs, why would any decent person want to ruin such a wonderful site?
Hopefully it will be back soon, we've all missed it.
Sorry people... more bad news :o(
Marina now has chemical meningitis... She sounds very poorly but shes is so tough. She must be to go through this, i really hope that this is the last thing for her and she starts getting better. I am sending her all my spoons xxxx
......for your spoons, they must have worked LOL.
I came out of hospital just over a week ago and am still quite poorly. Although the operation itself was a success I have been left with most of my symptoms. It is early days of course so thinks might improve in time. Most upsetting of all is since the op and Meningitus I have been left with Epilepsy!
